Mass Relay is Matthew Richter — bass music with archaeology in its hands. Heavy low end, textures that sound excavated rather than programmed, melodies that arrive like they've been traveling a long time.

He started making music at nine and never really stopped, eventually taking a master's in classical guitar performance from the University of Denver. The training still shows: the patience underneath the weight, the sense that every sound was placed rather than dropped. The work moves through downtempo, dubstep, neuro bass, glitch hop and future funk without settling in any of them.

Winning the Untz Challenge put him on festival stages — Electric Forest, Summer Camp, Sonic Bloom. He has collaborated with CloZee, Haywyre, Mr. Bill and Ott.
